Sixteen bikes in a yard off Oxford Street
Coast Spin is a small indoor cycling studio in Whitstable. Sixteen bikes, classes between thirty and fifty minutes, and no screens ranking you against the person next to you.
We also hire out road and hybrid bikes, mostly to people heading along the coast towards Herne Bay or inland to the Crab and Winkle Way.
Classes
Sixteen bikes, never more. Five instructors, each with their own way of running a room.
Bike hire
Nine bikes: five hybrids, three road, one with a child seat. Helmets and locks included.
Showers
Two, with towels. The reason half our morning regulars come here rather than a gym.
Routes
Printed route cards behind the desk, free, whether or not you hire from us.
What a class here is like
Lights down but not off, music loud but not painful, and an instructor who tells you what to do with your legs rather than how to feel about your life. Resistance is on a numbered dial, so you can repeat what you did last week without guessing.
No leaderboard. We took the screen out in 2021 after eighteen months of watching people who were having a bad week quietly stop coming.
Prices, briefly
| First class | £9 |
| Single class | £14 |
| Ten classes | £120, valid six months |

| Bike hire, full day | £24 |
Practical
Book through the timetable page or by phone on 01227 704812. Bring shoes with a stiff-ish sole; we have SPD pedals with flat backs, so trainers are fine. Arrive ten minutes early if it's your first time, so someone can set your seat height properly — almost everyone gets it wrong alone, and it's the difference between a good class and sore knees.
No car park. Gorrell Tank car park is two minutes away and the station is a seven-minute walk. Cycling here is, we accept, the obvious answer, and there's a rack inside the yard gate.
